Sign ups for our Ladies only event are going pretty well, but there’s always room for more, so even if you’re not sure you can make it, go ahead and sign up, or show up. No pressure, either way works for us but signing up helps us plan for space and materials.

Our hockey sale is going to be held over for at least a couple of weeks in October, if not the whole month. We’ve had such a good response, we can’t stop it now. So, come in, find some orange tagged merchandise, buy more items to get even larger percentages off the already low sale prices.

We’ve finally nailed down the dates for our Women Only Repair Seminars. So here they are:

October 10. We’ll do fixing flats and basic trail side repairs. And we’ll ask about what everyone wants to learn at future sessions.

November 14. Cleaning and lubing, plus whatever else people want to learn given feedback from the first session.

December 12. We’re thinking of doing a family class, bring kids who are old enough, husbands/boyfriends, everyone learning some basic maintenance in an informal, friendly setting.

All classes will start at 6pm and all these dates are Wednesdays. We’d like an idea of the number of people who are coming so we can plan for space and materials and such, but registration is not required. To let us know you’re coming or interested, call 270-8304 or email info@irwinsbikes.com

So I did a meager 6 laps in 12 hours. really 8.5 hours. I dropped out early-ish due to the horrible pain/numbness in my hands and arms. The fully rigid bike was clearly not the right tool for the job. Single speeding it wasn’t too bad, but that bike just beat me up, and the single speed kinda kicked me while i was down. Gotta find a deal on a suspension fork this winter. Hands have been so bad that I still haven’t commuted on the bike. I’ve made a couple little trips to Hy-Vee and such, but nothing as long as a commute. Hopefully they’ll get better soon, they feel almost 100% but grabbing the handle bars still doesn’t feel so hot.
