It’s getting darker earlier, and as such, we’ll be doing the last ride on October 11th. The plan for our final group ride is to meet as normal, ride down the Neal Smith Trail to downtown, eat at the Spaghetti Works, then ride home in the dark. Lights required, and registration is a good idea but not required. The restaurant would like at least a rough idea of how many people to expect. To let us know you’re coming or for more information stop in, or give us a call at 270-8304.

Here at Irwin’s we’re getting ready for the coming months of colder, wetter weather with warmer clothes. Remember, there is no off season, unless you want there to be. We’ve started getting tights and windbreakers and everything else you need to stay warm on winter time rides.
In other news, Kyle posted his bio, so check that out. Blog entries should follow, so keep looking for those.

The saga starts 1979 Schwinn shop east side of Des Moines, wrenching on, riding on, selling on. Bicycles are what I like and 27 years later the love is still there. Schwinn factory trained 1980, Specialized Bicycle Componets University Master Tech 2006, Ragbrai support as a mechanic 26yrs(no longer invited Ha). Married to my best friend RaeAnn 23 years, 3 children Kyer 21, Breanna 18, Shelby 11, they all put up with a retail lifestyle 40-45 hours wkly 7days. I also for the past 17 years work at UPS as a sorter from 10:30pm till 2:30am which helped RaeAnn stay home when the kids were young. This year 2006 was very good for me; I did two 24-hour mountain bike races, Sea Otter Classic in Monteray Ca., went to Cancun Mexico, on Rest Your Car’s dime, and had time to complete 3500mi on my bikes, I commute as much as I can, noticing things seem less stressful after a good ride.

It’s true. We’ve marked down many of our higher end hockey skates, just in time for the season. Sizes are limited but the sizes we have are priced to move in a hurry. RBK 8K, Vector 10, CCM ProTacks, are just a few of the skates we’ve put on sale. We also have plenty of the newest equipment and of course our $5 skate sharpening.
Our road bikes are still on sale, and still quite a bit of selection especially for the taller riders, lots of 58 cm bikes left, but don’t wait too long, they’re going to be gone before you know it, and wouldn’t you like to get at least a few miles in on a new bike before the snow flies?
